30th and 40th Anniversary Alumni Reunite to Celebrate NTUST’s 50th Anniversary

On November 16, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) held a reunion event for alumni celebrating their 30th and 40th anniversaries of graduation. Over 300 alumni and faculty members gathered, creating a warm and lively atmosphere. The event was designed around four main themes: ranking achievements, admissions, student life, and graduation. It provided alumni with an opportunity to relive the cherished memories of their time at NTUST—experiencing once again the joy of excelling in the entrance exams, the excitement of attending the first class, the emotional moments of graduation photos, and the heartfelt gratitude expressed to their mentors.

Early in the morning, alumni from various locations returned to NTUST, and the first thing that caught their attention was the list of those admitted to the "Taiwan Institute of Industrial Technology"—the predecessor of NTUST. This brought back memories of the hard work and passion many alumni invested in gaining admission to Taiwan's only higher education institution for technical and vocational studies at the time. Alumni gathered in front of the list, eagerly searching for their names, excitedly taking photos, and reliving the glory and joy of those days.

As they passed through the memory corridor made up of old photographs, they were reminded of the precious moments spent with classmates during their time at the university. The event also thoughtfully provided bachelor's gowns, allowing alumni to experience once again the emotional moment of donning their graduation robes.

Afterward, alumni returned to their respective departments to revisit the scenes of their admissions and classes. The department heads introduced the recent developments of the university and each department, highlighting the latest achievements in technology research and teaching. Many alumni actively shared their career experiences and updates, and the interactions between alumni and faculty were warm and lively.

Alumni Association President Chen Jianwei also remarked that the 50-year journey from the Taiwan Institute of Industrial Technology to National Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been both challenging and solid. NTUST has trained many problem solvers for Taiwan's technology industries, and the contributions of its alumni have become the cornerstone and support for major industries. The thanksgiving banquet began joyfully after the alumni together wished the university a happy 50th anniversary.During the speech, the event's organizing committee chair and Department of Industrial Management alumnus Wu Jindi humorously remarked, "40 years ago, looking at the list was very nerve-wracking, but today, it's much more relaxed because I know I will definitely find my name." He highlighted how NTUST has grown over the decades, with the expansion of the Zhubei and Huaxia campuses providing a solid foundation for the university's long-term development. Seeing NTUST's progress and achievements filled him with pride, and he encouraged current students to continue striving for excellence, further elevating the university to new heights.
