The Taiwan Tech Charity Golf Tournament originated from the efforts of the seventh-term Chairman of the Alumni Association, Electronics Department alumnus Hsieh Chin-nan, who later became the Director of the Indigenous Student Resource Center at Taiwan Tech. He was deeply moved by the fact that indigenous students often had to work long hours due to financial difficulties, which affected their academic performance. In response, he frequently used his own funds or organized alumni donations to provide scholarships, helping indigenous students overcome their economic challenges and successfully complete their studies. After the passing of alumnus Hsieh, Electronics Department alumnus Sung Yong-hao took over the initiative, launching the 'Hand-in-Hand Scholarship Fund.' The program was designed to provide long-term support, offering scholarships for nine months each year from freshman to senior year, allowing students to focus on their studies. During the winter and summer vacations, students are encouraged to work part-time to cultivate independence.

In 2019, the Alumni Association organized the first Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds for the 'Hand-in-Hand Scholarship Fund,' continuing the legacy of alumni Hsieh Chin-nan's care for his younger peers. This is now the third edition of the event. In celebration of Taiwan Tech's 50th anniversary, the scale and participation of the event have both grown significantly compared to previous years. The event's overall organizer, Honorary Chairman Hsu Heng-shou of the Alumni Association, expressed his gratitude: 'We appreciate the enthusiastic response from our alumni for this event, and we especially thank the Alumni Association Secretariat and Taiwan Tech colleagues for their behind-the-scenes support. Their dedication in planning made this event a great success. In the future, the Alumni Association will continue this meaningful activity and welcomes passionate alumni and businesses to join hands in spreading love and doing good deeds, while nurturing outstanding talent.

Since its inception in 2019, the 'Hand-in-Hand Scholarship Fund' has supported 17 outstanding indigenous students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The award recipients have expressed that the scholarship allows them to focus on their studies, easing the financial burden on their families. They are also deeply grateful for the encouragement from their senior alumni, which motivates them to stay focused on their academics and enhance their abilities. They hope that in the future, when they are able, they can give back to society and pass on this warmth. This embodies the purpose and spirit of the 'Hand-in-Hand Scholarship Fund'—a sustainable legacy that continues to cultivate goodwill and create a better future.
