2024 marks a fruitful year for Taiwan Tech in establishing its alumni network. This includes the in-person annual meeting hosted by the Vietnam Alumni Association in March, the founding meeting of the North China Alumni Association in April, and the establishment of the Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli Alumni Association in June. The Northern California Alumni Association, led by President Chen Jun-ru, former President Zou Yi-fan, and many other alumni, has been actively hosting and assisting students and faculty members traveling to Silicon Valley for internships and visits over the years, making the alumni community more vibrant.
To express gratitude for the Northern California Alumni Association's long-term support and assistance to Taiwan Tech and to strengthen the relationship between Taiwan Tech and its North American alumni, President Yen Chia-yu, along with Vice President Zhou Zi-quan and Alumni Association Vice Chairman Wu Yu-wen, attended the Northern California Alumni Association Annual Meeting on September 21, 2024. During the visit, they also took the opportunity to visit international tech companies in the area, including ARM, SuperMicro, and the Google headquarters, to discuss future cooperation.
“Northern California Alumni Association Annual Meeting: Enthusiastic Support from Taiwan Tech Alumni”
“The Northern California Alumni Association Annual Meeting also arranged for the incubator team interning in Silicon Valley and exchange students from Taiba University of Science and Technology to participate together”
The Northern California Alumni Association Annual Meeting differs from other regional alumni events, as it is not held indoors but instead takes place outdoors in a beautiful park, in response to the local tradition of treating holidays as family days. This outdoor picnic was organized to encourage alumni to bring their families, and it received enthusiastic support from many alumni. The scene was filled with the joyful laughter of children, and senior alumni prepared traditional Taiwanese snacks and dishes, providing comfort to those far from home. In addition, the incubator team interning in Silicon Valley, including students from the Electronics Department and exchange students from Taiba University of Science and Technology (who were part of the incubation program), also participated. The younger alumni took this opportunity to express their gratitude to the senior alumni for their support and care during their internships, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere at the event.
“The Northern California Alumni Association wishes Taiwan Tech a happy 50th anniversary celebration”
During the annual meeting, President Yen expressed special concern for the alumni living in the Silicon Valley area and welcomed them to stay in touch with Taiwan Tech, the Alumni Association, and the Northern California Alumni Association for mutual exchange and resource sharing. Vice Chairman Wu Yu-wen of the Alumni Association also invited everyone to return to Taiwan Tech in March next year to participate in the 50th-anniversary celebrations. The annual meeting concluded on a joyful note, with warm California sunshine and enthusiastic wishes from the alumni for Taiwan Tech’s 50th anniversary. Everyone agreed to reunite at next year's anniversary celebration.
